Phoenician Women
Phoenician Women by Euripides tells a tragic story of moral lapses and jealousy run amok. The Phoenician Women design involved ancient Greek modes of composition and instrumentation. The piece incorporated the Greek minimalist approach to instrumentation, their drones and repetition, interupted by explosive percussion bursts and their microtonal vocal structures in order to realize the original score for the production. The chorus sang excerpts from the script which was set utilizing these concepts. The production had a multimedia focus and I worked closely with the video designers to augment the stage picture with sound.
