CV Edmund Mooney Condensed
The city is a chronological layer cake of erasures. The constant, habitual, money driven reuse of limited space leads to an unreal emphasis on the last “great” idea for each property. Throughout history ecological concerns have been ill considered in favor of maximizing profit and use value.
My work teases out these erasures in order to re-represent, sometimes fantastically or abstractly, elements of what people of the past may have experienced. Ambient, everyday occurrences in and around my home are another subject. I am comprehensively trans-disciplinary in my pursuits utilizing both time based and still mediums. Photography, video, environmental sound recording and eco-historical sound walks are a few of the forms I employ. I am exploring my personal Venn diagram of then and now as a leaping off point for creation.
